Post Series: Field Trip Sydney 2012
Design Inspiration Paper Engineer Benja Harney Field Trip

I recently went to the wonderful Field Trip in Sydney (put on by the Jacky Winter group) and all this week I’m going to be highlighting some of my favourite presenters.

First up is Benja Harney, an amazing paper artist based in Sydney.  I first saw Benja present at Field Trip in Melbourne last year, where he talked about a big project that he had just completed for Kylie Minogue – a most amazing pop-up book that she commissioned for her worldwide concert tour.  In Sydney last week, Benja showed us how he designed and created a series of interlocking paper shapes which was just fantastic and beautiful.

Here is a selection of his other work:

Benja says on his website:

Through my business, Paperform, I have been dedicated to engineering high-end pop-up books and crisp paper constructions professionally for 6 years now spanning a variety of applications: fine art, advertising, magazine illustration, fashion and packaging.

Paper is such a humble medium to work with. It inspires and challenges me every time I sit down at my cutting mat.

I strive for creativity and perfection in every project I undertake.
