Merry Christmas and hope you all have a relaxing and awesome time with family and friends! We spent a lovely two weeks in Melbourne over the Christmas / New Year break, housesitting at my cousin’s place in Box Hill.
We had the luxury of beautiful Christmas decorations all over the house and backyard decking area and the smell of a fresh pine tree in the corner of the kitchen / loungeroom. I took a few photos of the lovely decorations…
I was lazing around, reading in bed late one afternoon and happened to glance up at the right moment to catch this gorgeous sunset out the window. Just a quick iPhone snap – with an Instagram filter. So beautiful. It was gone so soon after I grabbed this shot, so I was happy to have seen it in time.
We loved housesitting at my cousin’s place in Box Hill, Melbourne as it felt like a cross between the excitement and fun of a hotel room in a holiday destination, though we had all the convenience and comfort of homely things around us too. They have kids around the age of our two youngest, so there were plenty of books and movies and toys to play with. My cousin’s wife is a fantastic cook with a huge big kitchen so we enjoyed cooking good meals while we were there.
I totally wanted to take this vintage old sign home with me! Taken by my cuz (with permission) from the Box Hill playing fields when they updated to some more modern signage a few years ago, this is an old scoreboard with heaps of character and awesomeness.
There were many pretty little flowers in the garden…
