Handmade Market on the weekend was absolutely fantastic – again! So many wonderful stalls and so well organised – thanks Julie. It was stinking hot (38.9 Celcius) but the people of Canberra still came in their thousands.

I was the “official photographer” for the event and I have posted a CD off to Julie with about 150 images on it. You can see a few here in this post, and check the Event Photography page for even more.

As you know, I usually have my own stall at this market, selling my RED INSTEAD handmade things but I recently decided to wind that business up and concentrate on my new venture – which is graphic design, web design and photography. I had quite a few of the stallholders asking me if I was sad not to be having a stall and I could honestly say no – I’ve made the right decision. I’m so excited to follow this new path.

It was so great to be involved in the market in a different way and I loved helping Julie and the team out behind the scenes. As well as taking photos, I did other helping jobs like refilling the toilet paper in the loos (someone has to do it!) and handed out Christmas cheer to all the stall holders in the form of sweet-smelling gingerbread men. They all loved them and it was a welcome sugar hit for the afternoon on Saturday.

For once, I actually got to check out all the stalls and there is so much wonderfulness in Canberra – it makes me so proud of us! I never get the chance to have more than a quick look at the stalls on my way to the toilet or something and to be able to actually see everyone was so great.
