You might notice that there is a LOT of work for RED INSTEAD handmade in the images in my portfolio. That’s just for now. My portfolio will grow and change as I take on more clients, and I hope to see a lot more variety in there soon.
I spent the last six years working in my own handcrafted clothing and accessories business – RED INSTEAD handmade, sewing and making things and selling them online and at local markets. I also designed and set up a shopping website, blog, Facebook and Twitter and designed many web promos as well as brochures, flyers, business cards and huge market stall banners. Of course, I wanted to keep a consistent look and feel for the business so that explains why there is a very similar style to all of the RED INSTEAD handmade portfolio images. I also took many, many product photos over the life of the business as I made so many different things – jewellery, clothing, cards, handbags to name a few.
After many years I’ve decided to wind that business up now and this is the new direction for Red Instead. I am going back to my roots – I have been designing websites and graphics for over ten years now, and that never really stopped even when I went into the indie handmade area. I want to keep designing and leave the sewing for personal projects, instead of the other way around. I have learnt a lot through working in my own small business and now I can help you put the best face on your business.
Contact me about your project and let me fill up my portfolio with sweet images of your brand new website or your flyer, especially if your business colours are blue or green or yellow. I hope you can see the potential within my portfolio images, even if there is a little too much red in there.
